Esset Australian partners with Australian Physiotherapy Association to take bite out of $50 million Training Pie

APA, Esset Australia and the Community Services and Health Industry Skills Council have been granted funds for training for existing workers in Allied Health, as part of the Federal Government’s Enterprise Based Productivity Places Program (EBPPP).

The news follows an announcement from the Minister for Education and Employment, Julia Gillard, committing $50 million to the EBPPP – doubling the expected $25 million investment.

The funding will provide 50 training places to strengthen workforce capabilities and ensure this industry remains a positive contributor to the Australian economy,

Although this gap is evident across Australia, rural and regional communities have greater difficulty in accessing physiotherapy services. In 2004, the APA began working with the Community Services and Health Industry Skills Council to develop competencies for a Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance (Physiotherapy). In 2007, following wide consultation with the profession, the APA voted to create a membership category for physiotherapy assistants. Esset Australia is proud to announce a continuing agreement with the APA to deliver nationally accredited training for physiotherapy assistants and support staff in physiotherapy practices and facilities. A team of highly qualified health professionals, headed by Esset Australia Project Consultant Dr Sandra Mercer Moore, will deliver the qualifications for staff of physiotherapists.

Enrolments are now being taken for funded workshops in Victoria, New South Wales, Western Australia and Queensland.

Limited places are available and workshops are starting soon so please act quickly to secure your place in this exciting initiative.
