Esset Australia has secured 89 of these places covering 34 residential care facilities located in Western Australia, South Australia, Victoria New South Wales and Tasmania.

The qualifications being targeted are:

  • Certificate IV in Community Services (Lifestyle & Leisure);

Mr Phill Bevan, Managing Director of Esset Australia, describes the initiative "is focused on the delivery of national qualifications to support workers as they provide quality care to a diverse range of clients. The qualifications, covering home and community care, residential care and also service coordination principles, will quality some participants for the first time, and upgrade the skills of and qualifications of existing workers in a wide range of key service provision areas.

The training initiative, funded by the Australian Government, Department of Health and Ageing, will address the barriers some workers face in order to obtain skills and qualifications with a range of training and assessment methods being implemented to deliver the qualifications. The predominant method will be face to face on the job which can provide the flexibility of delivery desired for the completion of these qualifications."
