Aged Care Workforce VET Project
Release: 1st August 2011
Esset Australia is pleased to announce the launch of the new Aged Care Workforce VET (ACWVET) project.
An Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing funded initiative, the ACWVET project is a component of the $47 million Supporting a Professional Aged Care Workforce Program, delivering accredited courses that will upgrade the skills of several thousand aged care workers nationally.
Esset Australia Managing Director Mr Phill Bevan highlighted the "program will provide training ranging from short courses through to full aged care certificates, strengthening the skills and knowledge of aged care workers who provide home-based or residential-based care to frail older Australians with complex care needs."
Esset Australia will deliver over 230 training places as part of the first round of the program, in partnership with 30 aged care service providers across six states.
The training initiative, funded by the Australian Government, Department of Health and Ageing, will address the barriers some workers face in order to obtain skills and qualifications with a range of training and assessment methods being implemented to deliver the qualifications. The predominant method will be face to face on the job which can provide the flexibility of delivery desired for the completion of these qualifications.
