Business (Recordkeeping) Program

Esset Australia , working in conjunction with Business Competency Solutions (BCS) and the Records Management Association of Australasia, implemented a best practice model of panel assessment for three ‘state champions' to achieve their Advanced Diploma from the Business Services Training Package in 2002.

These Advanced Diplomas were some of the first qualifications issued nationally under the new Records Management competency standards, and provide qualified staff to continue the process in other states. The program has expanded through the partnership with BCS to include all recordkeeping qualification levels, the development of print and online materials through the partnership to meet the requirements of new national units, and the implementation of a training strategy and framework.

Esset Australia 's Business (Recordkeeping) programs are accredited with the Records Management Association of Australasia. Esset Australia is currently one of several providers accredited for vocational programs in Australia . The Records Management Association of Australasia (RMAA) announced in 2006, the selection of Esset Australia as the registered training organisation for the RMAA's Australia wide series of records management residential schools in 2006/07.

Support for Aged Care Workers Program

Esset Australia is working collaboratively with the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing, and a range of Aged Care Facilities, to deliver a program focused on overcoming barriers to rural and regional aged care workers accessing training opportunities.

Barriers to training that have been identified include a lack of confidence to study, the cost of training, time to study, low levels of literacy and numeracy, and difficulty accessing training. The main objective of the project is that staff will be educated for the growing needs of the aged care industry and that the quality of life for the residents will improve.

The initial program commenced in January 2004, with over 180 participants across facilities in the North of Tasmania completing on the job and seminar based training programs.

The program has been extended to include an additional 450 participants across Tasmania in 2005, 600 participants in 2006 and over 350 places in 2007, across both Victorian and Tasmania, in conjunction with 16 aged care facilities. To date the project had involved the delivery of over 2000 training places to participants employed as aged care workers and supervisors.

SafeFood Program

Esset Australia held the sole Tasmanian license for the FoodSafe Food Hygiene program with the Australian Institute of Environmental Health in 2002. This program had a critical role to play in supporting Tasmanian industry with the release of the National Food Standards Code, making core Food Handling training a compulsory requirement for all food handler employees.

A state-wide training schedule was delivered for other Tasmanian Food Businesses, in conjunction with Local Government Environmental Health Officers.

Esset Australia 's Safe Food Program continues to assist a broad cross-section of Tasmanian industry to meet and maintain compliance with the ANZFA Food Standards Code, with over 600 participants to date completing food safety training.

Better Skills for Better Care Program

Esset Australia is working collaboratively with the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing, and a range of Aged Care Facilities, to deliver full qualification programs through the Better Skills for Better Care program.

The programs, spanning three funding rounds and six aged care facilities to date, involves qualifications from Certificate III to Diploma, in facilities in regional areas across Victoria and Tasmania .

People Management for Small Business Program

Esset Australia through funding from the AusIndustry Small Business Enterprise Culture Program, has implemented an innovative people management program across the North of Tasmania in 2004/05. The program was developed from a business needs survey conducted by the Launceston Chamber of Commerce and Industry, who identified a lack of awareness and ability to deal with staff issues, as a major concern for Tasmania's small enterprises.

Esset Australia has addressed these concerns by delivering a tailored program to increase small business knowledge of procedural and legislative responsibilities in areas such as personnel records, industrial relations, issue resolution, employee counselling, disciplinary procedures and performance appraisal. The people management program has seen its first group of 50 managers from 38 small to medium enterprises complete the program in mid 2005.

Schools Business Administration Program

In partnership with the Catholic Education Offices in Victoria , Esset Australia worked with Education Support consultants to implement the Certificate III in Business Administration to all school administrators. The program supported recent system initiatives within the diocese' and provided much needed recognition and training support for school based staff.

From the initial trial of 23 participants in September 2002, the program has been implemented across two further Victorian dioceses, taking total participants to over 150 in 2003-06.

Small Business Management Program

Esset Australia , in partnership with Tasmanian Independent Wholesalers (TIW), successfully secured a Small Business Management submission to the Tasmanian State Government –this was one of six successfully tendered for in 2003. Leading from a training needs analysis of TIW's 100+ small business owner/operators, the management training program included the delivery of Certificate IV and Diploma Business and Management units to Tasmanian managers in a 12 month program throughout 2003.

The program assisted Tasmanian managers to implement strategies to manage industry changes with the implementation of seven day trading from December 2002.
